"J.A.R." is a song by American punk rock band Green Day. The song is
featured on the Angus motion picture soundtrack. The acronym stands for
'Jason Andrew Relva', a childhood friend of Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt.
Jason Relva died at the age of 19 on April 18 1992 as the result of
injuries sustained from a car accident. Mike Dirnt wrote the song in
remembrance of his friend. It's about living life to the fullest and making
one's own choices. The song reached number one on Billboard's Modern Rock
charts in 1995.
The song was featured in the end credits of the movie Angus. It is also a
B-side to the album Insomniac and is track eight on Green Day's 2001
greatest hits collection International Superhits!.
