Naaman is also the name of one of the Minor characters in the Book of
Genesis Naaman (??????? "pleasantness") the Syrian is mentioned in the
Second Books of Kings chapter 5 in the Tanakh (The Hebrew Bible). According
to the narrative, he is the commander of the armies of Benhadad II in the
time of Joram, king of Israel. He was afflicted with tzaraath (which is
often translated as leprosy); and when the little Hebrew slave-girl that
waited on his wife told her of a prophet in Samaria who could cure her
master, he obtained a letter from Benhadad and proceeded with it to Joram.
