This musician is not to be confused with the 1970s singer Peter Shelley.
Pete Shelley (born Peter McNeish, April 17 1955 in Leigh, Greater
Manchester, Northwest England) is an English singer, songwriter and
guitarist, best-known as the leader of Buzzcocks, one of the first
generation punk rock groups from England.
The McNeish family lived in a house on the road named "Landside" in Leigh
which still stands. The family was middle class and had a strong work
ethic, which is reflected in Shelley's attitude to life in general and his
work in particular. Shelley has a younger brother.
Shelley is devoted to his parents, but even up until recently his mother
was still asking Shelley to "get a proper job", despite Shelley's
worldwide success.
