    Zalvarinis
?alvarinis is a folk rock band from Vilnius, Lithuania. They typically play slow paced music with exclusively Lithuanian lyrics and primarily female vocals. Some of their songs exhibit vocals in the style of traditional Lithuanian polyphonic chant (sutartin?s). The band was formed in 2001 as a collaboration of the black metal band Ugn?lakis and pagan folk band K?lgrinda, as evidenced by the title of their first album.Current band title "?alvarinis" is translatable to English as an adjective brass - a type of metal. The song "A? kanap? s?jau" (eng. "I Sowed A Hemp"), taken from the 2005 album ?alio vario was featured on Transformations in Lithuanian Song - a 2006 compilation CD that covered the development of Lithuanian folk music over many years, published by the Lithuanian-American journal Lituanus.
